Julius Forte on the 3:00am wakeup call

"You’re just hitting that good sleep where you’re dozing off and having good dreams. You might have Halle Berry or somebody knocking at your door but when you see coach (Marquel) Blackwell at the door you’re like, ‘Hey, you’re not Halle Berry!' "

Defensive end JuJu Forte, reminding us all that the fantasy is usually better than the reality.

Coach Taggart at American Athletic Media Day

Coach Taggart: "But we're a program that really hadn't lived up to our potential. But it's on us. And a big reason why I'm the head coach there now is to try to get our guys to live up to the potential. But it's not just us, our players. It's going to be coaches and everyone else that's involved with it. But I do think we can be one of those teams. Are we there yet? No, we're not. But we can get there."

Big, if true.

(Holtz) was disappointed to find out Monday that a few Bulls players left the field before Saturday's final play, a kickoff from Syracuse with three seconds left.

From Greg Auman's notes blog entry on Monday. If that's something that happened, I'm sure Skip is right to be worried. One clunker, mail-it-in performance out of his team and the pressure on him and his boss will hit extreme levels.

"After Bridgewater went 21-for-25, USF has allowed a 69.4 percent completion rate against opposing quarterbacks this season."

That comes from the "notes" section of the Tribune's wrapup from Louisville. It's really 69.42%, to be exact, which is next-to-last in the entire FBS. Only Kentucky is worse, at 70% on the nose. #LikeACosh

"USF's marching band dedicated its halftime show to school president Judy Genshaft, spelling out 'Judy' — call it Script Judy? — and playing 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.'' Genshaft then appeared on the field, in a lime green suit, and danced to the music."

This choice tidbit comes to us from Joey Johnston's collection of notes about the USF-Chattanooga game in Sunday's Tribune. Your move, everyone else.

"Book your tickes to OKC! Bulls top Hofstra 2-1 in the deciding game, earning their first ever berth in the College World Series!" - @USFSoftball

It's final! USF beats Hofstra 2-1 in game 3, behind another great performance from Sara Nevins, who is a boss. For the second straight game, Nevins retired Hofstra's star Olivia Galati with a chance to tie the game. More to come later.

@Mistral_Raymond with the most ironic and/or out-of-date USF sports tweet ever.

'Why would anybody want to hire you? You were 5-7."

'Why would anybody want to hire you? You were 5-7."

Jennifer Holtz, asking her husband why Arkansas would be interested in hiring him to replace Bobby Petrino, as quoted by Skip Holtz after practice on Wednesday. I guess Holtzisms run in the family.

"We're excited to see how far we can go," Fitzpatrick said. "If we keep playing defense the way we've been doing I don't think there is a team we should be afraid of."

Pretty much the exact quote you want to hear from a USF player at this point. Let's hope the white jerseys are just as effective as virtual velcro. Lock 'em down, boys.
