#43 LB Auggie Sanchez
Redshirt Freshman, 6'2", 215 lbs.
Stats in 2013: Sanchez redshirted and did not appear in any games.
Spot On Pre-Season Depth Chart: Listed as the second-string middle linebacker behind Tashon Whitehurst. The depth chart only listed three linebackers, however, so Sanchez is very much in contention for a starting job.
How did he come to USF: From Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, where he played defensive end. He chose the Bulls over offers from Marshall, FIU and Tulane, among others.
Recruiting Rankings: Sanchez was given two stars by both Rivals and 247.
Projected Playing Time in 2014: Remember Auggie's brother, former Bulls' Swiss army knife and special teams standout Armando Sanchez? The beginning of Auggie's career started a bit like his brother's, getting moved to fullback just about as soon as he arrived on campus, then back to linebacker for the start of this year. He's had himself a fantastic offseason, though, and looks like a good bet to land in the starting lineup in the middle of the Bulls' new 3-4 defense. Even if he's beaten out by Whitehurst and one of the true freshmen linebackers, he'll still be a key player in 2014.
Fun Fact: Auggie offered this heartwarming quote when he committed to the Bulls: "It's been a goal this whole time to follow in my big brother's footsteps." Love you, Sanchez family.
