How did he come to USF: Clavion came to USF from Hollywood, Fl., where he played at South Broward High school and made the all-county team in a competitive county. He also received offers from Illinois and Kansas.
Recruiting rankings: Nelson was rated three stars by Rivals, and two stars by 247. He was recruited as a defensive end but is closer to tackle size now.
Projected playing time in 2014: He's entering his fourth year in the program, so he's been around the block, but there are at least three defensive tackles (James Hamilton, Elkino Watson, and Todd Chandler) who are ahead of Nelson. It would be tough to get less playing time than last season. However, playing a 3-4 might get him more time at end since all three lineman spots will have to be bigger than in last year's 4-3. We'll be conservative and say he'll be a back-up.
Fun fact: He played power forward at South Broward High school.
