Former Kentucky WR A.J. Legree to Transfer to USF

Mike Zarrilli

The Bulls land a player with SEC experience at a position of need.

Willie Taggart and company received some good news yesterday, as Josh Newberg broke the news that former Kentucky wideout A.J. Legree will be transferring to USF this summer. Legree, a local product from Fort White who was a consensus three-star recruit out of high school, just finished up his sophomore season at UK and will have two seasons of eligibility after sitting out in 2014.

Although he can't contribute immediately, this is a really nice pickup for the Bulls. USF is already pretty thin at receiver this season behind Andre Davis, and Davis will be graduating at the end of the year along with Deonte Welch and Chris Dunkley (and, for that matter, Mike McFarland). In fact, the Bulls only have one receiver on the roster who's slated to come back in 2015 and has caught a pass at the collegiate level-- Toledo transfer Rodney Adams, who had two catches with the Rockets as a freshman. Yikes.

Clearly, Legree will have a good shot at immediate playing time when he's eligible. He wasn't ultra productive at Kentucky, but he played in every game and hauled in 19 catches for 210 yards in his two seasons there. Kentucky SB Nation site A Sea of Blue hadn't really talked about Legree much entering the spring, mentioning that he was among of group of receivers battling for playing time.

We extend our warmest welcomes to A.J. as he prepares to come to Tampa. According to Josh, he won't take long.
