USF's offensive line gets back a promising player who missed all of 2013.
#64 OL Thor Jozwiak
Redshirt Junior, 6'4", 332 lbs.
NOTE: USF could seek a medical redshirt for Jozwiak's 2013. If granted by the NCAA, he could play as a sixth-year senior in 2016.
Stats in 2013: Did not play, due to the discovery of an irregular heartbeat during last year's pre-season camp. At times, Jozwiak flirted with returning to game action, even suiting up for practice. But Willie Taggart announced on October 30 that he was out for the season. Taggart would later say:
When it’s your heart, you don’t question that or anything. You let him and the doctors do what they have to do.
Indeed. Jozwiak was able to record a kickass game promo for the students:
I don't know about you, but I'm fired up to beat Cincinnati. If football doesn't work out, Thor might have a future in pro wrestling. He also hosted the USF awards ceremony.
Spot on 2013 Depth Chart: Not listed, but only because he was unavailable. In 2012, Jozwiak was promoted to starter for the last five games of the season. He was penciled in as a starter going into 2013, until his irregular heartbeat was discovered. He was the #1 overall draft choice in USF's spring game, and #5 overall in last year's spring game. When the depth chart is updated, rest assured he will be on it.
How did he come to USF: From Lake Region High School in Eagle Lake, near Lakeland. He was part of the lineman-heavy 2011 recruiting class, which included Brynjar Gudmundsson, Darrell Williams, and Elkino Watson.
Recruiting Ratings: Got 3 stars from Rivals, and 2 stars from Scout. Had offers and high interest from Iowa State and West Virginia. That West Virginia offer is especially meaningful, for reasons we'll get to.
Projected Playing Time In 2014: If he's healthy, he'll get plenty, and could supplant a returning starter.
Fun Fact: Jozwiak's father Brian Jozwiak is a West Virginia University hall of famer, consensus All- , the #7 overall pick in the 1986 , and helps raise money for WVU Children's Hospital with an annual golf tournament that is in its 24th year.
