Stampeding The 2014 USF Football Roster - #95 DT Todd Chandler

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Today's player will be counted on to be a leader on a young defensive line.

Next up in our roster rundown is a former prize recruit who's entering his last go-round with the Bulls.

#95 DT Todd Chandler
Redshirt Senior, 6'0", 320 lbs.

Stats in 2013: Chandler played in all 12 games last season, racking up 24 tackles and 5.5 TFL.

Where was he on the 2013 Depth Chart: Todd was listed behind Luke Sager and Elkino Watson as a second-string defensive tackle. With Sager graduating, he'll likely compete with James Hamilton for a starting role.

How did he come to USF: Chandler came from Northwestern High School in Miami, and was one of Skip Holtz's biggest recruiting pulls. Todd had originally committed to Miami, but backed out before signing day and chose the Bulls over the Canes, Louisville, and South Carolina, among others.

Recruiting Rankings: Chandler was a consensus four-star recruit out of high school. Rivals named him the 20th-best defensive tackle in the class of 2010 and number 41 prospect in Florida. ESPN adored him, giving the number 67 slot in their national Top 150 list.

Projected Playing Time: This could be the year that Chandler finally lands himself in the Bulls' starting lineup-- his main competition is likely junior James Hamilton (who, for better or for worse, had a brief stint on the offensive line in the spring). Regardless of who wins the job, Chandler will be a key part of the Bulls' defensive line.

Fun Fact: Chandler has a three-year-old daughter, Tod'Jhay, whom he credits for helping to turn around his life after he was suspended for the entire season in 2011. Read this lovely piece by Joey Johnston for more on Todd and Tod'Jhay.
