After a tough loss on Saturday to Villanova, the USF ladies notched a big road win against Seton Hall.
After a heartbreaking loss on Saturday night to Villanova, the USF Bulls hit the road again and notched their tenth straight win over Seton Hall, 74 to 52. In that loss to Nova, Andrell Smith had a team high 20 points, but fouled out down the stretch and a pour shooting night for Andrea Smith did the Bulls in late in a key road game. However, they rebounded well in tonight's game against the Pirates.
USF dominated the game from the start, using the full court press to frustrate the Pirate offense and limit their shot selection. The Bulls got contributions from several players as Coach Fernandez was able to get some of his younger players into the game early. Alisia Jenkins had 15 points and 6 rebounds, making another strong start as a freshman. Andrea Smith had 21 points and 6 rebounds, shooting 6 out of 15 for the night. This was a much better performance for her compared to her 3 for 25 outing against Villanova on Saturday. Courtney Williams had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Shavontae Naylor had 6 points and Inga Orekhova added 7 points (just 1 out of 7 shooting from 3-point range though).
USF now sits at 13-5 (2-3) on the season as they finally return home to face Marquette on Saturday night at 6PM. A win on Saturday would pull them to .500 on the year in conference play.
