Our next player on the countdown from 99 to 1 is another contributor at defensive tackle.

#92 DT Luke Sager
Redshirt Junior, 6'3", 282 lbs.

Stats In 2011: Sager played in all 12 games, lining up at defensive tackle and also playing on special teams. He made 10 tackles, two for loss, and recorded a sack, plus he forced two fumbles and recovered one. He mostly appeared in mop-up duty, but also got some quality playing time in the season finale against West Virginia.

Current Spot On Depth Chart: Sager is listed as a starting defensive tackle opposite Elkino Watson, but will probably shift to a backup when Cory Grissom is healthy again.

How did he come to USF: Luke signed with USF after starring for Niceville High School, not far from Fort Walton Beach and Destin in the Florida panhandle. Sager chose USF over NC State and Iowa State.

Recruiting Rankings: Scout listed Sager as a two-star recruit and the 138th best DE prospect in the country in 2009. Rivals had Luke as a three-star recruit and the 54th-best DE prospect.

Projected Playing Time In 2012: Sager will continue getting reps with the first team until Grissom comes back, which will likely help him get more playing time in the defensive tackle rotation. In addition, he should continue to be a special-teams contributor this season.
