You might blow up the still if not maintained properly. Not sterilizing the equipment could cause blindness or even death with rogue bacteria infecting the drink. You could receive a batch laced with beading oil or lye that could cause real bodily harm

Then there is the fact that you could head to prison for a while if caught making this mythical elixir without the proper paperwork. Then again, most people making it really don't care when producing it..
