Willie Taggart Would "Likely Accept" USF Coaching Job If Offered

Stay connected for news and updates

Steven Godfrey of the SB Nation mothership reported last night that Western Kentucky head coach Willie Taggart, while in New York for the College Football Hall of Fame banquet, interviewed with both Wisconsin and USF about their vacant head coaching jobs. According to the story:

In addition, Taggart is in talks with South Florida for their opening, and was interviewed by Arkansas before the Razorbacks hired Badgers head coach Bret Bielema. Sources have told SB Nation that if Taggart is offered the USF job, he'll likely accept.

This would fit with Collin's theory that Doug Woolard knew exactly who he wanted to hire after letting Skip Holtz go on Sunday afternoon. The only potential holdup might have been if the Louisville job came open (assuming Louisville would have been interested in him). But with Charlie Strong increasingly likely to stay with the Cardinals, it seems like Taggart can become USF's next coach if they want him to be.
