Zach LeDay Commits To USF Basketball

Stan Heath and the USF basketball just picked up their 2nd commitment of the day as The Colony (TX) PF Zach LeDay gave a verbal pledge to the Bulls this evening. LeDay's commitment was first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com, and is ranked as a 3-star recruit by Rivals. Scout, ESPN, and 24/7 do not have ratings for LeDay.

Zach has been a force for The Colony HS, averaging 21.4 PTS/7.7 REB/1.5 STL/1.2 BLK this season for the Cougars and chose USF over a Top 5 of Missouri, Vanderbilt, Fresno State, and George Mason. LeDay and fellow AAU teammate DeMarcus Holland stopped by USF on an official visit this past weekend, and after Holland pulled the trigger this afternoon, LeDay followed just hours afterwords.

Coach Heath needed to finish this recruiting class with a post, and he was able to find the man he was looking for in LeDay. The Bulls will have a solid starting duo in JUCO signee Waverly Austin and Toarlyn Fitzpatrick, but there will be plenty of minutes for LeDay and Jordan Omogbehin off the bench next season and will have a chance to start in 2013 after Fitzpatrick graduates.

LeDay is the 5th and final member of the Class of 2012. Which is absolutely awesome to say on January 2nd.

i'm liking the additions

i feel like we’re one double digit scorer away

I think the scoring is there

Here is the depth chart for next year, given everyone qualifies and no one transfers

PG: Collins, Nash, Holland
SG: Poland, Noriega, Abdul-Aleem, Brock
SF: Rudd, Hawkins
PF: Fitzpatrick, LeDay
C: Austin, Omogbehin

That’s not a bad roster. Might be one of the better ones in USF history.

who are the scorers there though?

the emergence of rudd would be huge but he hasn’t been nearly consistent enough. and i don’t know if you can count on jawanza and fitzy for consistent production

come on Great Gunsby

Fitz (besides the last game against Rutgers) has been the most consistent player so far. that was unfair of you.

Scary but true.

Fitzpatrick is playing a lot better this season.

Robertson as well

he’s quiet but goes about his business every game. we just need Poland, Noriega, Rudd & Gilchrist to be consistent

you're misinterpreting me

toarlyn’s been great and obviously i love jawanza! as a nice little bolt of energy, but i don’t see either of them being a top notch scorer here. fitzy might be one of the best players on next year’s team, but my original point here was that we need a consistent double digit points guy

That's some impressive recruiting!

I hope, hope, hope, hope, hope it translates. I’m almost excited about this season now!

Go Bulls!
