Daily Bull-ogosphere: September 5

Obviously the untimely passing of Lee Roy Selmon is the main topic today, overshadowing everything else that happened over the weekend. Make sure to visit Bucs Nation and Crimson and Cream Machine (SBN's Oklahoma blog) for more stories and tributes to this amazing man who meant so much to all of our respective communities.

1. Adam Adkins of the Tampa Tribune has his story for Monday's paper, plus some reaction from former coach Jim Leavitt, who Selmon called to offer him the head coaching job in 1995.

2. Greg Auman has several pieces in the St. Petersburg Times. In addition to the story that appeared in the print edition this morning, he has more reaction from Seth Greenberg and Paul Griffin, along with video from USF's press conference with president Judy Genshaft, Doug Woolard, and Skip Holtz.

3. Gary Shelton's column in the Times this morning is well worth reading, as is Joe Henderson's in the Tribune.

4. The University's official site has their own story about Selmon's passing.

5. And just to catch everyone up on the weekend's other USF contests: Dom Dwyer is amazing and the Half Hoops won a pair of matches over Georgia State and Robert Morris. The Lady Halfs dropped a 1-0 decision to Vanderbilt on Friday, and controlled the run of play against Murray State on Sunday but couldn't get a result. Volleyball remained winless after dropping matches to Maryland-Eastern Shore and Bowling Green in the USF Volleyball Invitational this weekend, but they finally got off the schneid with a win over Bethune-Cookman on Sunday. Women's cross country won the Tampa Early Bird Classic, while the men finished seventh.
