Notre Dame paid USF $500,000 for this game.

I'd like to know the amount of money USF has made in guarantee games that they ended up winning.

Pretty sure it’s into seven figures now.

Notre Dame and Auburn alone would put it into seven figures

Personally I figured South Florida had a chance to win this.

USF has that history of making road game upsets against the powerhouse/historic teams. I keep harking back to that first major upset versus Pitt that put South Florida on the map as a scrappy young team, and those close-but-important wins over the likes of Auburn three years ago and Miami last year. While we’re not playing these schools at what turns out to be their level best, we’re still going into their houses where the fanbase can intimidate and the pressure is always high… and still come up with these huge upsets.

Jokes aside, this offense needs to get better. Not every team is going to hand the ball over to us that much. Too many field goals, not enough TDs.

I'd like to think our offense was merely rusty with a first game

Hopefully the players, after a real game in-pads and with game film to review, will learn from this and get better next week.

By the by, how tough is Ball State this year?

Well they beat Indiana. We might get dunked on.

USF should win by double digits.

I guess we have to rank ourselves this week in the Blogpoll?

Anyone? Anyone?

Somewhere in the 20s. Maybe high teens.

<15 would be too high for me. 18 or 19 actually feels about right.

by Bonkers on Sep 3, 2011 10:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldn’t disagree with that ranking.

Who in the BE would you put above us, out of curiosity?

by Bonkers on Sep 3, 2011 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

20 or so.

Normally I’d say about 15 but with ND making so many mistakes we can’t give USF too much credit.

Suck it, everyone who's never beat Notre Dame.

Illinois 0-11-1
Washington 0-8
West Virginia 0-4
UCLA 0-4
California 0-4
Minnesota 0-4
Rutgers 0-4
Florida 0-1
Oregon 0-1-1
TCU 0-1

And the schools who match our greatness in this area only by virtue of playing more games:

Oklahoma 1-8
Alabama 1-5
Kansas 1-4
South Carolina 1-3
Arizona 1-2
Clemson 1-1
Mississippi 1-1

We're good against Clemson, right?

It’s that damnable Ole Miss we gotta defeat next.

Well Dexter McCluster already graduated, so I don't really care about Ole Miss anymore.

Off-topic: watching Georgia/Boise St.

and I just wanna say that Georgia is wearing the ugliest set of unis this side of Oregon. What the hell are they doing? That is the worst shade of all-red I’ve ever seen.

Holy Christ Georgia looks like an Arena team.

Actually they both do. But Georgia has some actual history to betray.

In the car leaving Notre Dame

There. Are. No. Words. I will write about 2000 words on this whole day at some point when I have the laptop battery. But the delays really screwed up our plans. Cubs game tomorrow now in question. But this was just amazing

Dude, how can you possibly care about a Cubs game after that?

Let me spoil it for you: there’s a 58% chance they’re going to lose. Repeat 162 times every year for 136 years.
