Armwood DB Jarvis McCall Commits To USF Football

Coach Skip Holtz and the USF Football team picked up some great news before today's game, as Armwood DB Jarvis McCall gave a verbal commitment earlier this afternoon. McCall chose USF over offers from Indiana, UCF, Vanderbilt, and FIU.

The St. Pete Times' Joey Knight was the first with the news after speaking with Hawks' coach Sean Callahan, and Josh Newberg at Bulls247.com was able to confirm the commitment with Jarvis himself.

The 6'2 185 lb McCall was rated as a 3-Star Safety prospect by both 24/7 and Rivals, and a 2-Star Safety by Scout. Rivals had McCall as the 41st best Safety recruit while Scout had Jarvis as the 120th best Safety prospect this year.

Jarvis is playing cornerback for Armwood this year and already has 2 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown this season. Last year, McCall had 28 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, 8 PBU, and an interception.

Its great to see Skip grab a quality player from one of Hillsborough County's best programs, especially at a position of need like defensive back. USF will be losing Jerrell Young and Tyson Butler this year at safety, and it looks like JaQuez Jenkins has made a pretty seemless transition to cornerback. This will leave Mark Joyce, Jon LeJiste, and freshman C.J. Garye as the only current safeties on the roster.

McCall is the 10th verbal commitment for USF this year, and the 5th defensive back commitment.
