This was not something you wanted to see with three and a half weeks until the season opener against Notre Dame. According to Greg Auman of the St. Pete Times, Junior Quarterback B.J. Daniels went down with an apparent left hamstring injury in today's morning practice in Vero Beach.
Daniels was running towards the sideline and fell awkwardly on his leg and did not get up as the trainers rushed to check on him. B.J. was kept out of practice as a precautionary measure, and his leg was iced as he walked gingerly to and from team huddles at the end of the first of two practices today. I wouldn't expect B.J. to participate in tonight's practice.
UPDATE (2:30 PM): If you are worried about Daniels missing a couple of weeks, Coach Holtz tweeted that B.J. should be back to normal in a few days.
BJ tweaks hamstring at practice today. Will be limited a couple days, but should be fine.
In other notes:
- #ALLTHETRANSFERS With Brandon Wilkinson and Dontae Aycock gone, Skip brought in Navy transfer Tre Griffin to practice with the team in Vero. Greg Auman reported his transfer to USF earlier in the summer, and how he was going to wait until the team got back to Tampa to join the team. Griffin will have to sit out this season and will have three years of eligibility left.
- There will be a second practice today starting around 7:10 PM if weather permits. The sea breeze has already picked up on the East Coast and might affect practice if it continues to storm.
