USF Football Finalizes 2012 Non-Conference Schedule With Chattanooga

USF announced the completion of their 2012 non-conference schedule yesterday, with the Chattanooga Mocs coming to Tampa on September 1, 2012. Greg Auman first reported the story and added that the Bulls will pay Chattanooga $435,000 to serve as USF's annual FCS opponent.

This will be the first matchup against the Mocs, who play in the Southern Conference. USF has had some recent history against teams in the SoCon, with the Bulls playing Elon in 2007 and Wofford in 2009.

If the Big East doesn't shuffle the schedule and just slides TCU into the existing setup to balance the home and away games next season, USF's schedule will most likely look like this.

Non-Conference Games

  • 9/1 Chattanooga
  • 9/22 at Ball State
  • 9/29 Florida State
  • 11/24 at Miami

Home Big East Games

  • Pittsburgh
  • UConn
  • Rutgers
  • Syracuse

Away Big East Games

  • TCU
  • Louisville
  • West Virginia
  • Cincinnati

With that two-week gap in between the Chattanooga game and Ball State, it looks like USF will start their conference schedule a little earlier than normal. The Big East has scheduled games this early before, but this will be the earliest conference game that USF has been a part of.

And did you see that away slate? This just might be the toughest road schedule in USF history.
