Stats in 2010: Ruben used his redshirt season last season learning the defense and getting stronger.

Current Spot on Depth Chart: Garcia was not listed on the two deep on the post-spring depth chart at any of the three linebacker positions.

How He Got To USF: Ruben came to USF last season as a preferred walk-on from nearby Durant HS in Plant City. Garcia excelled for the Cougars, getting 68 tackles for Durant his senior year. Garcia accepted a preferred walk-on position over a scholarship offer from Charleston Southern and interest from FAU.

Recruiting Rankings: Garcia was not rated by either Rivals or Scout.

Projected Playing Time In 2011: Garcia will be used mostly on the scout team and on special teams with an experienced group of linebackers ahead of him.
