With only 51 days left until USF heads up to South Bend to start the 2011 season, today we look at a player who is rejoining the team for one last go-round. (If you were expecting to see Armando Sanchez here, he changed his number when he switched to fullback. We'll get to him next week.)
#51 DE Rony Delisca
Senior, 6'0", 233 lbs.
Stats in 2010: Delisca was not on last year's team. He walked back on the team during spring practice and made it through post-spring cuts to land on the current roster.
Current Spot on Depth Chart: Rony is not currently listed on the two-deep at defensive end, which is probably the deepest position on the team.
How He Got To USF: Delisca walked onto the team in the spring of 2008 along with former Wharton High School teammate Joel Miller. He redshirted that year, then played in three games as a reserve in 2009.
Recruiting Rankings: Not rated by either Scout or Rivals in the class of 2008.
Projected Playing Time In 2011: With players like Ryne Giddins, Patrick Hampton, Claude Davis, and Julius Forte all in front of him, it's unlikely Delisca will see much playing time at his natural defensive end position. However, he excelled on special teams at Wharton and we may see him there again this season for USF.
