We are now exactly ten weeks away from the 2011 season opener in South Bend, and it's time to take a look at the best name on the team and the biggest winner from spring practice.
#70 OT Quinterrius Eatmon
Redshirt Freshman, 6'6", 299 lbs.
Stats in 2010: Did not play as he took his redshirt season.
Current Spot On Depth Chart: After a monster spring practice, Eatmon finds himself listed as the first-string right tackle. Barring an injury or something completely unexpected in August, Eatmon should be starting at right tackle when the Bulls start the 2011 season at Notre Dame.
How He Got To USF: Eatmon arrived from Vigor High School in Pritchard, Alabama. He originally committed in December 2009, then took his official visit a few days after Skip Holtz took over as coach and ended up signing with the Bulls.
Recruiting Rankings: Rivals listed Eatmon as a three-star recruit and the #75 lineman in the Class of 2010. Scout also had Eatmon as a three-star, ranking him 79th nationally among lineman.
Projected Playing Time In 2011: Back in April, I included Eatmon in my list of Bulls who made a name for themselves in spring practice. He lost 50 pounds during his redshirt year and improved so much that Holtz and Todd Fitch couldn't stop talking about him after practices. They didn't even need to be prompted. Eatmon should begin the season as the starter and hopefully will stay there for awhile. In fact... I feel a song coming on!
(WARNING: This song is spectacularly cheesy and it involves a video of The Fifth Dimension dancing on top of a platform that looks like the outside of Space Mountain. It's after the jump, but don't say we didn't warn you.)
Everybody sing along!
