Daily Bull-ogosphere: December 7

It's exam week at USF, so not much going on on campus, but a few items from around the Interwebs...

1. As you may have heard non-stop for the last two months, the Big East is once again almost ready to add five schools any day now maybe if everything goes right. Dennis Dodd of CBS compares the resumes of the outgoing schools to those of the incoming schools. The key statistic (one that is a major component to a league's BCS-worthiness) is that the new schools have finished in the Top 25 of the BCS poll nine times, compared to twelve times for the three exiting schools.

2. CBS Sports, citing behind-paywall reports from Rivals, is reporting that Larry Fedora has been offered the North Carolina head coaching job. Texas A&M says Fedora is holding out for their job, but Texas A&M is probably also waiting for Bill Belicheck to call.

3. USF's Dom Dwyer has been named one of 15 semi-finalists for the Hermann Trophy, the national player of the year award for college soccer. The award is voted on by college soccer coaches, not media types.

4. USF's Chaz Hine was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, a.k.a. the "Academic Heisman", but lost out to linebacker Andrew Rodriguez of Army. Disappointing for our guy, but you've got to admit Rodriguez has impressive credentials. Hine was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, an award given to only 16 individuals, and one that comes with an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship. Congratulations to Chaz, a great Bull in many ways.

5. CNNSI has a brief video piece on Texas-San Antonio's first season of football. The challenges they talk about will bring out a little nostalgia for those of us who remember the 1997 USF football season. The piece mentions UTSA breaking the record for inaugural game attendance. They don't mention who previously held that record... but I think we all know who.
