#ALLTHEJUCOS USF Picks Up Commitments From CBs Josh Brown and Fidel Montgomery

With the recent defections of D.J. White to Georgia Tech and RayShawn Jenkins to Miami, Skip Holtz has been looking replacements, and he did just that yesterday with the commitments of JUCO cornerbacks Josh Brown and Fidel Montgomery. Bulls247.com were the first to report the Montgomery commitment while USFNation.com broke the Brown news (Both are $$ Links).

Let's start with Montgomery, who chose the Bulls over Mississippi State and Minnesota. Fidel is a 6' CB who originally committed to Troy out of Marianna HS, but did not quality and enrolled in Southwest Mississippi CC. Montgomery had a solid season for the Bears, netting an insane 121 tackles in 9 games this year. Greg Auman noted that Montgomery earned NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering 28 tackles in one game earlier this year.

Brown was originally a New Mexico State commitment before switching to the Bulls this weekend. The 6'1" corner was a 3-Star recruit coming out of Lancaster HS in Texas and had offers from Nebraska, Utah, and North Carolina out of high school but like Montgomery did not have the scores necessary to qualify academically and enrolled at Trinity Valley CC before moving to Arizona Western CC this year.

These two commits along with with Gainesville HS CB Chris Bivins will be able to provide some much needed depth at corner that was lacking for most of Big East play this year. Kayvon Webster, JaQuez Jenkins, and George Baker should be the top three corners for next year, but after that its wide open. The only other corners on the roster are Ricardo Dixon who will most likely miss the beginning of the year due to a Torn ACL, redshirt freshman Kenneth Durden, and walk-ons Ernie Tabuteau and Brandon Salinas.

Both Montgomery and Brown will enroll at USF in January and will each have two years of eligibility left. They are the 14th and 15th commitments for USF this year and the 4th and 5th defensive backs in the Class of 2012.
