USF-Florida Southern Preview, Or Bulls Try Not To Get Snakebit

Your undefeated USF Bulls (2-0) head east on I-4 to take on Division II Florida Southern (0-0) tonight at the Lakeland Center.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM and can only be heard 1250 AM WHNZ. The game will not be televised or played on an internet stream. Here are your probable starting lineups for tonight's game.

Florida Southern USF
6' Jr. Seth Evans G 6'1" Soph. LaVonte Dority
6'1" Fr. Kevin Capers
G 6'4" Jr. Shaun Noriega
6'2" Soph. Dominic Lane
F 6'8" Soph. Victor Rudd
6'6" Jr. Garrett Putnam
F 6'10" Sr. Augustus Gilchrist
6'6" Jr. Brett Bailey
F 6'8" Ron Anderson Jr.

This is FSC's first game of the season after losing an 88-78 exhibition against Miami down in Coral Gables. 6'4" Cameron Vines came off the bench to lead the Mocs in scoring with 19, while Dominic Lane and Kevin Capers each had 13 points and Brett Bailey chipped in 10 in the post. The Mocs actually had a lead for most of the second half, but the Hurricanes pulled away in the last 5 minutes and avoided the dreaded Black Line Upset.

I'm still in shock with how much of a size advantage USF will have tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if Vines gets the start to help out size wise. FSC will most likely play a zone for a majority of the night, and it will be important for our guards to shoot them out of it. On offense, expect the Mocs to shoot a ton of threes tonight. They shot 23 against Miami last week, and I wouldn't be surprised if its about the same.

The Bulls should receive some help depth wise as Anthony Collins could make his USF debut tonight. Collins has been hampered for the past month with a hamstring injury, so his availability will be big as the Bulls have been shorthanded all season. Also, expect to see Alberto Damour tonight. Yes I said that against Marist too but this time I'm serious.

While the Mocs are basically playing a home game tonight, I think USF wins this one comfortably. FSC won't have the opportunities for 2nd chance points like they did against Miami, and we will be just too strong inside for them to keep up with us.

Bulls win big.
