1. Greg Auman has the video up from Coach Holtz's press conference from yesterday. The sweater vest is a good look for Skip. Just as long as guys don't start getting bunches of tattoos and Todd Fitch doesn't start running iso on first and second down the minute USF takes a 10-point lead.
2. The newest edition of the Big East Power Rankings are up, and USF held firm at number 4 this week.
3. Congrats to the women's golf team for dominating the USF/Waterlefe Invitational yesterday, winning the two-day tournament by 17 strokes. Christina Miller took home the individual title, her second in two events this year.
4. While the Half-Hoops have been excellent over the past couple of weeks against ranked opponents, Coach Keifer wants the squad to be mentally focused against some of the lesser opponents coming up on the schedule. Speaking of which, if you can't make it out to the Kop for tonight's game against DePaul, the game will be televised on BHSN.
5. Tom Zebold wants to see how the team rebounds this week against UConn after the loss to Pittsburgh two weeks ago. (By the way, Cincinnati went 12-0 two years ago, so a Big East team has gone through the conference schedule unbeaten. West Virginia also did it in 2005. And of course there were all those years Miami just blitzed the league.)

USF can prevent anyone from going unbeaten.
Pitt had lost a Big East game already, which largely negates their one-game advantage over USF. As long as Pitt loses one more game USF controls its own destiny. (And there are even some three-way tie scenarios that do not require Pitt to lose another game.) But it’s too early for those calculations.

Assuming USF's performance against Pitt was a fluke or the flu, USF is in a good position

It's not good that we took our mulligan early.
We now have no margin for error against… well, the rest of the league. Some teams like Syracuse haven’t looked good in OOC play, but neither did Pitt.
At 5-2 all you can hope for is winning a tiebreaker. Which USF might be in good position to do, since multi-way tiebreakers are based on BCS rating, and USF is the most poll-worthy team other than WVU, all other things being equal. It would depend on when they lost, and who to. But since the season would end with USF beating WVU (I see no USF championship scenario where this doesn’t happen), that would help. The Miami game would also matter, since a loss would hurt poll standing. But it’s too early for all of this talk. Let’s deal with UConn first.

I don't see Miami being ranked for the rest of the season.
Their win over Ohio State is bogus, and they already have three losses. Beating them won’t do very much good as far as improving USF’s rankings.
