Sterling Griffin To Be Red Shirted
Can't figure out how to link to an individual tweet on an iPad (note from Voodoo - I got it for you), but yeah, according to the Balding Legend of Journalism, Sterling Griffin is going to be shut down for 2010.
No word from Coach Holtz on how many times he's seen Rocky IV, and if the overwhelming guilt Balboa felt when he failed to get the white towel in early enough to save Apollo's life was a factor.
This would appear to be a wise move, as a fully healthy Griffin with potentially three years of eligibility left should have Bulls fans giddy with excitement. But it certainly casts a pall on the balance of 2010. A long year just got slightly longer.

Its the best move to make
I just wish it wasn’t. Lets hope we can atleast squeeze out three more wins.
+1 on the best move to make
Plan for the future, as this season is shot.

Is this a regular redshirt?
Or some kind of special, in-hopes-of-a-sixth-year type medical redshirt that has to be approved by the NCAA’s Random Waiver Department?
It's a regular redshirt. He played as a true freshman last year.
Might as well save as many guys as you can since this team’s probably going nowhere this year. I have no problems with the move.

Nor I. Though we shouldn't assume this is throwing in the towel.
It ‘s possible that Griffin’s ACL is not healing as quickly as they projected, and he’s simply not available to play no matter what the Bulls’ record.
It was A.J. Love who tore his ACL. Griffin jacked up his ankle at practice.
But either way, it sounds like his recovery is taking longer than they hoped… although it’s closer to the timeline I think we all had in mind when he first got injured.

Terrance Mitchell is getting a look at WR
So, -Griffin and +Mitchell
It’s an interesting idea as Mitchell certainly has the talent to be effective at receiver, but it’s going to be tough to do it mid-season as a true freshman.
Go Bulls!
Keep him in the secondary
This is what he was recruited for, and should continue to practice there. No sense in making him learn a new position out of desperation. Do we really need to become eligible for the St. Pete Bowl that badly?
